Donations now open!
Help support our small, volunteer-run organization 💖

Rainbow Dracuteers is officially registered with Donorbox. We're now able to accept donations! As with most grassroots initiatives, we aren't a group flush with cash. Because we are just starting out, we don't yet have financial support from fiscal sponsorships or advocacy networks. Until we're a solidly formed, larger organization, we cannot pursue official 501(c) non-profit status in the state of Massachusetts, either. That's where you, dear neighbor, come in!
Any and all donations help. The current Donorbox campaign is set to cover the basic costs of digital maintenance as well as support for our participation in this year's Old Home Day!
The goal is $400.
Because we do not have official non-profit status, we wish to be as transparent as possible with the community. (Though transparency is a value we have regardless and would continue to uphold even after hypothetically obtaining 501(c) status.) The goal was determined by the following costs:
- Web Domain Registration, ~$22 (annual)
- Ghost Web Hosting, ~$110 (annual)
- Old Home Day Table Registration, $60
- Costs for printing, pins, & tabling decor, ~$100
- Writing, Research, & Outreach Unpaid Volunteer Hours, ~$100
As of now, all these costs have been paid out-of-pocket from my own earnings as a part-time reference librarian and freelance writer. (Which is to say, not the largest of earnings...) I have done so willingly because I believe fully in supporting Dracut's LGBTQIA2S+ community. It's needed, and I will help as I am able.
However, I'm also a Millennial shackled to student loan debt who lives with family because the rent is too damn high. (Even with both my income and that of my IT Contractor spouse.) As such, I'm sincerely hoping that my personal time and money won't be the sole pillar supporting Rainbow Dracuteers. For the longevity of this organization, it can't be. It's unsustainable.
I'm grateful that Donorbox has a platform welcoming to grassroots groups like ours. Even though we cannot yet offer tax-deduction for donations, we hope our neighbors & supporters will still lend what financial aid they can so Rainbow Dracuteers can take meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency and stability.
Should this fundraising campaign raise money beyond our goal, the funds will go towards future annual web maintenance payments, event programming, and outreach initiatives. Rainbow Dracuteer members (both free and paid) will get exclusive updates on planned developments & future volunteer opportunities!
Thank you so much for your time & consideration. We're so excited to continue working on new writing projects and local outreach within Dracut!
