Mission

Rainbow Dracuteers is a local, grassroots organization dedicated to serving Dracut's LGBTQIA2S+ community. We aim to instill a sense of pride, self-love, and security among our rainbow children, teens, adults, and elders. The tapestry of Dracut townies is diverse, and we seek to uplift the voices and experiences of those marginalized folks who deserve to be in charge of their own narratives.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
“Acknowledgment is a simple, powerful way of showing respect and a step toward correcting the stories and practices that erase Indigenous people’s history and culture and toward inviting and honoring the truth. Imagine this practice widely adopted: imagine cultural venues, classrooms, conference settings, places of worship, sports stadiums, and town halls, acknowledging traditional lands. Millions would be exposed—many for the first time—to the names of the traditional Indigenous inhabitants of the lands they are on, inspiring them to ongoing awareness and action.”
– U.S. Department of Arts and Culture
The town of Dracut, Massachusetts sits on unceded Pennacook land within N’dakinna, the Abenaki homeland. We acknowledge the traumatic history of genocide and forced displacement of the indigenous inhabitants of Mol8demak (Merrimack) Valley. The Pennacook-Abenaki of past, present, and future remain the original stewards of this land which has been their home for thousands of years. In acknowledging this painful past and its ongoing effects in the present, we seek to honor and respect the indigenous peoples still connected to this land.
